A Brother Who Sins Against You
15 "If your brother sins against you, go and show him his fault, just between the two of you. If he listens to you, you have won your brother over.
16 But if he will not listen, take one or two others along, so that 'every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.'
(Deut 19:15)
17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
When another Christian sins against us, slanders us, assaults us, steals from us.
We are told to Go to him and point out his fault.
If he will not listen go to him again with 1 or 2 others so that "every matter may be established by two or three witnesses."
Deut 19: 15
15 One witness is not enough to convict a man accused of any crime or offense he may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
This is not the only place that this principle is established in God's Word.
2 Corinthians 13
Final Warnings
1 This will be my third visit to you. "Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses."
1 Timothy 5:19
19 Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses.
Hebrews 10:26 -30
26 If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, 27 but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God.
28 Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
29 How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him who said, "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"and again, "The Lord will judge his people."
If he will not repent take him to the Church.
But what if he does not belong to or is accountable to any one church?
This blog is not written with a spirt of vengeance, but rather with the spirit of Peace, and the intent of performing due diligence in reporting the conflict that is herein to be revealed and reported.
When the Christian you have been dealing with is not active or accountable to any one church, to whom do you take your offenses?
None other than the entire church, the Body of Christ as a whole.
That is what this blog is intended to do.
